Cover Letter Writing: Formatting

Cover letters have three distinct parts: 1. The Introduction–in this short paragraph you are telling the reader who you are and the reason for your letter.  2. Your Skills-in this second much longer paragraph you are detailing your skills, and giving examples of your past performance which should be relevant to the job you are applying for.  Be sure to pull specific duties from the job announcement and connect them to your past work experience. 3. The Closing– ask for an interview and express your interest in working for the company, let the reader know you are the best candidate for the job.
